Who Are We?
BootUpPGH stands for Building Our Own Technology Uplifting People and we are your go-to tech learning space, both online and in person, in Pittsburgh. We’re all about hip-hop, real talk, and community spirit, focused on lifting everyone up with access, mentorship, and opportunities.
Our Roots:
During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in winter 2020, Community Forge brought together a diverse team to tackle the tech equity crisis in Pittsburgh. Our goal? To use our resources – space, equipment, and a network of passionate people – to boost economic and professional growth, especially for the Black community.
Our Mission:
We’re here to offer technology access and training, helping local entrepreneurs and community members thrive. Our focus is on creating sustainable programs that open up tech pathways for economic success and personal development.
How We Teach:
At BootUpPGH, we’re about real-world learning. We ditch idealism for practical, liberating education. Our approach to the 5Cs of 21st Century Learning (Digital Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication) is uniquely tailored to the Black community’s realities, histories, and aspirations.
